The project involved the creation of a landscape strategy for a large, existing house alongside two further proposed houses. The site incorporated a long entrance driveway flanked by mature trees, with an extensive rear garden connecting the house to the wider landscape. Trinity House itself has an interesting cultural history. The house was the set for an early Pink Floyd gig entitled ‘The Tea Set’ in October 1965, and in 1969 the house was also used on the front cover of Pink Floyd’s album ‘Ummagumma’. After these periods the house began to fall into disrepair, leading to the redevelopment proposals worked on by Liz Lake Associates.

Working with the architects DPA, the site required careful attention based upon existing vegetation to the entrance and around the sites perimeter. The majority of this vegetation was incorporated into the proposals, with additional landscaping positioned to avoid significant impact. To the front and backs of Trinity House topiary and ornamental planting was proposed alongside a large rear patio, creating a social space to provide connectivity into the extensive lawns. The rear gardens retained their open character, whilst providing strategic views into the landscape, setting the site firmly within its existing context.
