Liz Lake Associates was founded by Liz Lake in 1985 and has steadily grown to a practice of over 20 dedicated team members in Stansted and Bristol. The first office for four people was opened in Stansted Mountfitchet in 1989 at the bottom of Chapel Hill, then after ten years we moved half-way up the hill to the aptly named William Robinson Buildings. He was a famous early 20th century champion of the wild garden while our William Robinson was a builder and coffin maker. Following on from a stint at the top of Chapel Hill at Western House we moved to a new office right next to the Stansted Mountfitchet train station – the Exchange on Station Road is our new home.

A major factor to our success has been the number of repeat clients who keep coming back to work with our experienced and knowledgeable team.We are proud that we still work for companies that came to us in the 1980’s, as they have grown, so have we, undertaking over 2000 landscape design and planning projects in the last 30 years. We are a well-known, established practice with a strong network in the East Anglian region, the south west and the Midlands, with connections to a wide range of clients, other consultants and local authorities.

In 2013 we opened an office in Portishead, near Bristol, presently we have an office located centrally in Bristol to service our clients in the south-west and South Wales, subsequently this has also extended our working area into central England. We have always grown steadily and organically in response to our client’s needs. Looking to the future we look forward to a continuing relationship with our existing clients and the opportunity to build creative alliances with new clients.

Services

Masterplanning

Masterplanning is seen as a fully integrated holistic design approach for projects of any scale, from small communities to large infrastructure schemes our vision and underlying belief is to create communities with sustainable principals.

Residential Landscape Design

With the continuous demand for new housing, Liz Lake Associates’ specialist residential landscape design team works with a variety of house builders to enhance the quality and desirability of schemes in East Anglia, Cambridge, London, the Midlands, Bristol, South Wales and the South West of England.

Public Realm

The public realm encompasses the streets, roads, paths and parks in our cities, towns and villages where communities come together and public life occurs. Public realm and urban design is therefore the art of making places for people.

Hotel & Leisure

As chartered landscape architects, we often work with large multi-disciplinary design teams composed of architects, planners, quantity surveyors and engineers in our leisure projects.

Education and Research

Designing landscapes for our educational clients is a responsibility Liz Lake Associates takes very seriously. We ensure children can learn from and most importantly enjoy their outdoor spaces by creating innovative, exciting yet robust and safe landscapes.

Private Gardens & Estates

Alongside our involvement in large-scale projects, Liz Lake Associates regularly provides bespoke landscape design and planning services for private clients.

Heritage Landscapes

We have worked on over fifty heritage landscape schemes, particularly with the Debois Landscape Survey Group. These have ranged from pure restoration projects for public authorities to Inheritance Tax Exemption schemes and agri-environment projects for private owners.

Wellbeing

Our focus on the needs of residents and the requirements of Care Home operators ensures that we provide a dedicated service and we have amassed a great deal of experience working with many of the most prestigious clients and consultants in this sector.

Crematoruim & Places of Worship

Community spaces provide access to specifically designed landscapes for the public. These are often spaces that are associated with existing buildings that are used by the public, for example a park, cemetery or garden associated with a church or war memorial.
