With Practical Completion nearly upon us on the Swiss Laundry project, we were asked to undertake a visit to Barchams tree nursery to select the trees for the project. A great selection of trees were on offer at a range of sizes making it easy to find consistent high quality trees.
We were in search of some unusual trees, Koelreuteria paniculata and Ostrya carpinifolia among others. The Ostrya carpinifolia are going to be large feature trees on the project and so will be supplied in 250L containers.
Whilst driving around the nursery, we came across a tree called Styphnolobium japonicum (Sophora japonica), which is not a tree that we’ve not come across before, but will be looking to specify in the future.
