St Anne’s Quarter is a major redevelopment project by Orbit Homes. The site is situated in a prominent location in central Norwich on the banks of the River Wensum. Liz Lake Associates were appointed to develop design proposals, ensuring that an integrated and visually appealing public realm is created, befitting this strategic and historically significant site.

A hierarchical planting and hard landscape strategy was developed that references the historical context of the site, which was once occupied by a Friary. In the 1700s a Georgian formal pleasure garden formed part of the gardens to Howard House which is being restored as part of the development works. More recently in Victorian times the site encompassed a brewery and timber yard.

The integrated design approach will create a series of high quality interconnected pedestrian spaces which link with a new riverside plaza, making a significant contribution to the enhancement of the River Wensum and beyond. Having completed many of the initial planning and design stages, Liz Lake Associates are currently working on the construction phases of the project.
