Swiss Laundry, Cambridge
Swiss Laundry was a South Cambridge landmark for over a century, once a tannery set beside a busy cattle market, this became a laundry in 1904. More recently Liz Lake Associates helped restore this iconic landmark, working closely with the client, Camprop, and MCA architects in conjunction with a specialist team of local designers and contractors, its classic red brickwork now fuses with the highest quality contemporary materials, creating a high-spec workplace for info-driven businesses.
The site still retains the original Cambridge Gault brickwork, accentuated by high ceilings, mezzanines, and floods of natural light. The multi-functional external spaces create bespoke break-out areas and high quality seating pedestals, all set within a simple yet restrained hard landscape palette befitting this unique, brownfield site within Cambridge, CB1.
