Liz Lake Associates were appointed to create a high-quality planting scheme for 90 new houses, a contemporary play space and a large area of POS. The site itself is located alongside the Lee Valley Regional Park with the scheme requiring integration with this area through pedestrian access, visual permeability, and ecological connectivity.

The project required two large attenuation basins which created opportunities for a varied public open space. This area was designed as a transitional environment between the urban development on the site and the Lee Valley Regional Park. Tree selection within this public open space had to suit this character, with native species suitable for wetland environments and the transitional parkland character selected. The landscape proposals also needed to suit the biodiverse nature of the area; including maintaining tree lines for bats, large areas of reptile habitat and creating wetland habitats within the attenuation basins.

Large quantities of trees were strategically positioned throughout the residential area to create varying hierarchical streetscape characters. Strong structural hedge planting accompanied this tree planting to provide a highly vegetated residential environment. A play space was designed to suit varying age ranges whilst providing clear links into the wider open space. Contemporary equipment was used to provide structural forms as a feature near the entrance of the development. Overall, the scheme was completed through strong collaboration with the project architects, engineers, and ecologists to create a high-quality landscape scheme.
