The Former St Mary’s Hospital is a Listed Building located within the Park Street and Brandon Hill Conservation Area and adjacent to Brandon Park, a Registered Park and Garden.   Liz Lake Associates produced the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) and landscape designs for the sites redevelopment into student accommodation.

The sensitive nature of the site required close liaison with the design team and Bristol City Council to ensure the evolving masterplan and architectural proposals minimised impacts on the surrounding townscape and important city views.  The mitigation strategy for which included a series of large green walls on the contemporary extension and pavilion building.

The design of the buildings external spaces followed Renaissance Garden principles and featured areas for formal and informal activities including an outdoor theatre, water features and an arboretum.
