Grovelands, Chudleigh
Taylor Wimpey appointed Liz Lake Associates to prepare documents to support a planning application for a residential development on land at Grovelands, Chudleigh. This parcel of land lies on the edge of Chudleigh, a small town in Central Devon, and has recently become encapsulated on three sides by urban development, thereby presenting a rational case for residential infill.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, Liz Lake Associates produced documentation for a full planning application for 70 houses located within a sensitive study area (which included a Conservation Area, Registered Park and Garden, numerous Listed Buildings, Areas of Great Landscape Value, Scheduled Ancient Monuments, Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Special Areas of Conservation).
Our Landscape Appraisal (LA) identified the impacts of the development and proposed mitigation measures to reduce any significant adverse effects, including the use of building materials to reflect those within the adjacent Conservation Area, the arrangement of built form to allow framed views through the development to the countryside beyond, the retention of existing trees and hedgerows on site and the reinforcement of boundary screening to mitigate the visual impact of the development from surrounding properties and local footpaths.
